6 Reasons to Visit Cyprus!
486 miles of beautiful coastline
Cyprus, the third largest island in the Mediterranean Sea has many beautiful places to visit including Larnaca and Limassol on the southern coast, Famagusta on the east coast and Paphos on the west.
Perfect for a peaceful break
Not too far from its rowdier cousin Ayia Napa, Protaras on the east coast with its secluded sandy bays, rugged cliffs and brilliant blue seas takes some beating. For a walk with a view, the new coastal walkway that links central Protaras with Pernera is dotted with little ‘secret’ cafes, offering an idyllic setting to catch the sunrise or sunset.
Cyprus has some of the cleanest beaches in Europe, many with blue flag status including the famous Fig Tree Bay in Protaras, Gefyri tou Koraka in Ayia Napa and Kalymnos beach in Limassol.
A bit of culture too!
Some of the most important historical sites, listed with UNESCO as World Heritage Sites are in Cyprus such as Paphos, birthplace of the legendary Aphrodite and keeper of some of the most beautiful mosaics in the world. See the Tombs of the Kings and Aphrodite’s Sacred City, whilst Choirokoitia in Larnaca is a well-preserved prehistoric village.
Baby sea turtles
Many sea turtles come in from the warm Mediterranean Sea to lay their eggs on the Cyprus shoreline. Head to Alagadi Turtle Beach in northern Cyprus or Lara Beach in Paphos for a chance to see the newly hatched turtles make their way to the ocean.
