Alanya Castle – Historical with Majestic Views You will Love

Alanya is famous for its 13th Century Castle jutting into the Mediterranean Sea. Take the Gondola to the top (250 metres high or 820 Feet) and experience breathtaking views.

The castle wall is 6.5 km in circumference with architecture dating back to Seljuk era. Stroll around the castle and appreciate Cleopatra beach, East beach and Alanya harbour.

Alanya castle was built in the 13th century by the Seljuk Sultanate of Rome, when the city was overthrown by Alaeddin Keykubad I. Alaeddin built Alanya Castle ( Kizil Kule) on the remnants of previous Byzantine era and Roman era fortifications. Years following this, Ottoman empire took control and used it as a defence against pirates. A number of villas were built within the castle walls during the 19th Century.

The best Turkish bath experience is in Oba. In addition to the bath, you are taken to the salt room, mud baths, steam room, plunge pool, sauna, and eventually a massage.

How to get to Alanya, Turkey You can fly direct from most UK and European airports. The two main airports are Antalya and Gazipasa airport. Antalya airport is approximately 120km from Alanya which will take 1 hour and 30 minutes. Gazipasa airport is only 30km from Alanya and will take 25 minutes to Alanya.

You can buy fresh fish, lots of fruit and vegetables at great prices. After shopping go for lunch at Capri Balik Evi. Balik Evi means Fish House. For about 15 YTL you can get delicious fresh fish, loads of fresh salads, as much bread as you want and a bottle of water.

Alanyum Shopping Centre, Located on D400 road. A modern trendy shopping centre with all your high street brands. Great place to go for some retail therapy.
