Why choose Ibiza, Spain?

Down below, long stretches of soft white sand edged by dramatic cliffs, are perfect for lazing in the sun.

When you want to get busy, there are cliff walks, traditional stone villages, hiking trails, yoga retreats, cycling tours, boat cruises, water parks, wine tours and UNESCO World Heritage Sites to explore.

The northern side of the isle is the quietest side where you can get lost in hillside trails, hidden amongst the olive groves, vineyards and forests that cover the island. If you fancy an excursion on water, it is easy to take a boat trip over to Formentera, Barcelona or Valencia for the day or explore the coastline on a boat tour.

When you are ready to party, head into Ibiza Old Town where you'll find most of the island's clubs and bars, as well as restaurants and shops.

The vibe here is a glamorous mixture of laidback- cool and stylish partying so you'll find chillout bars where you can watch the sun set over the sea, beachside clubs where you can party until sunrise, foam parties, top international club nights and lots more.

Despite its reputation as Europe's party capital, Ibiza's long history as a bohemian retreat for celebrities and holidaymakers from all over the world, means it remains a popular, relaxing sunshine escape for families, couples and groups around the globe.

Best things to do in Ibiza, Spain

Beyond its world-famous nightlife, there are lots of things to do and see in Ibiza. From Roman and Moorish ruins to water parks and cycling tours, here's our top picks of the best things to do in Ibiza.

Best things to do in Ibiza:

Best beaches: Aside from awesome places to relax, beaches in Ibiza are focal points for many different types of events. There are so many magnificent beaches and coves in Ibiza, it is hard to mention them all. Here are some of the best beaches in Ibiza.

Head to Benirras Beach for a peaceful retreat that pulsates with tribal drumming at sunset. Creating a deeply atmospheric end to the day, Benirras delivers a sensory spectacle guaranteed to raise a few tears.

For families, Cala Llonga has long been a favourite with plenty of watersports, eateries and facilities to keep the entire family happy. Other great shoreline for families include Cala d'Hort, Es Cana and Cala Pada.

For the ultimate party and posing beach, make a date with Las Salinas. This stunning beach has piles of white sand, beautiful coastline and bronzed bodies for as far as the eye can see. With beach bars cranking out tunes day and night you could find yourself here, lying on the sand or on your feet dancing, at any time of the day.

Other iconic Ibiza beaches include Punta Galera for the perfect hillside location to watch the sun go down, plus Cala Conta and Cal Basa, the reward on many a boat cruise where you'll party till the day is done.

Encased by tree-covered hills on almost every side, Es Portitxol is the cove to visit if you want to do a spot of discovery on the way down. Reached from the top of the cliffs, Es Portitxol is a phenomenal location with stunning vistas.

Other divine, must-see, unspoilt Ibiza hideaways include Cala Boix and Cala d'en Serra.

Best local attractions in Ibiza:

Beyond the beaches, coves and parties, Ibiza has plenty of natural wonders, historical attractions and cultural sights to explore.

For history of the local area, journey up through the cobbled streets of Ibiza Old Town, and on to the oldest part of the town centre, Dalt Vila. First established by the Phoenicians, Dalt Vila is a UNESCO World Heritage site where you'll find museums, art galleries, shops, restaurants and bars.

Once the most highly prized city in the Med, Dalt Vila has plenty of tiny cobbled streets, buildings, picturesque terraces and ruins to explore. The vistas from Dalt Vila are spectacular with the Cathedral of Nuestra Senora de las Nieves and the centrally positioned Castell de Eivissa boasting some of the best views.

Museum of Contemporary Art

The Museum of Contemporary Art is also located in Dalt Vila and is not to be missed for phenomenal exhibits by local artists.

Time and Space Ibiza is another top cultural attraction. Located off the beaten track, on the edge of a cliff, this powerful installation was created by Andrew Rogers using huge stones and columns to represent the planets moving around our solar system - the effect is particularly dramatic when viewed at sunset.

Es Vedra

Other must-dos are a hike up Es Vedra to see the sun set over the bay - this is one of the best vantage points in Ibiza and doesn't get too crowded.

Additionally, the Cova de Can Marca Caves are a superb experience where you'll navigate the 100,000 year old cave network to uncover centuries old stalagmites and waterways that flow to an atmospheric light show in places.

Best nightlife in Ibiza

For nightlife, there are plenty of places and club nights you won't want to miss.

For the best sunset chillout bars, head to Cafe del Mar early to bag a seat for the spectacular sunset that unfolds in front of your eyes, whilst the tranquil beats of ambient chillout music play in the background.

Other top Ibiza chillout bars include: Kumharas, Tulp Beach Cafe, Rio Ibiza and Cafe Mambo and Savannah.

For top Ibiza club nights, don't miss Elrow on Sundays at Amnesia, where drama is everything and top DJs play to the accompaniment of confetti showers, inflatables and costumes.

Glow on Mondays and Thursdays at Es Paradis will see you get covered in neon paint whilst you party or try the water party on Wednesdays and Fridays. For the ultimate Ibiza foam party don't miss La Espuma on Wednesdays.

Best restaurants in ibiza:

With so much to do, you'll need plenty of opportunities to refuel. Luckily there are lots of great restaurants in Ibiza, serving everything from health-conscious menus to fine dining, Mediterranean dishes and international fare.

Our Story

In 2005, John Paul Donnelly, began his luxury villa journey. He spent three years building resorts and holiday apartments in Alanya, Turkey, along with his brother, Joe. The concept was to create the most luxurious villas on the Turkish coastline and provide clients, along with their family and friends, the opportunity to enjoy exclusive holidays together.

By 2008, after the successful development of 3 resorts, JP had well and truly fallen into the world of villa rentals. With a portfolio of 6 villas and a desire to explore new places, he decided it was time to take the villa rental business outside of Turkey. He wanted to give his clients access to beautiful holiday rentals in destinations across the globe.

The expanding villa rental company was rebranded in 2011 to 5 Star Villa Holidays, and today 5 Star Villa Holidays offers over 4,000 luxury villas around the world.

JP and his partner, Helena are currently travelling the globe, devoted to hand selecting the best villas and property management companies, and giving them their stamp of approval! 5 Star Villa Holidays' ambition goes beyond being an ordinary holiday rental company. It is a marketplace for luxurious and exclusive villas around the world.
