Welcome to 5 Star Villa Holidays, the No.1 website for renting 5-star villas in Lombok, Indonesia, with a select choice of dream family holiday villas. For years, the charms of Lombok were overshadowed by the more popular neighbouring island of Bali. But in recent years discerning travellers have discovered that Lombok can more than match Bali as the ultimate tropical getaway. If you are already a fan of Bali, you will love Lombok. Lombok is known for its beaches and great surfing, particularly at Kuta and Banko Banko. Just off the coast of Lombok lie the three tiny coral Gili Islands. These car free tropical paradises all have their own vibe from headonistic partying to romantic and laidback. The largest, Gili Trawangan, is also the most cosmopolitan with a buzzing party scene but also an increasingly upmarket clientele. Gili Air is quieter but still has plenty of amenities, while the smallest, Gili Meno,s is a blissful getaway. We have a great selection of villas carefully picked by our Lombok experts at 5 Star Villa Holidays. Whichever villa you choose for you and your family, you can be assured of comfort and quality in a truly special location. Looking forward to helping you choose the best luxury Lombok villa rental. All the best,
John Paul Donnelly
P.s. Climb the second highest volcano in Indonesia, Mount Rinjani if you have the stamina.

Senggigi is the busiest destination in Lombok on the west coast an hour from the airport. The original tourist resort on Lombok, Senggigi has a stunning location nestled between a series of sweeping bays. A great base to explore the rest of Lomkbok, there is also a good mix of beaches, nightlife, watersports and great restaurants. The sandy beaches are fringed with coconut palms and tropical forests. The exclusive area of Mangsit is two miles north. In the evenings, watch the dramatic sunset as the sun fades into the ocean beside Bali's Gunung Agung.
The area around Kuta has some of Indonesia's best beaches and surf spots. Less than half an hour from the airport, visitors are attracted by the stunning expanse of quiet beaches nearby that offer something for everyone. Now so much more than the surf town that first brought visitors to Lombok's southern beaches, Kuta has a coastline of almost a dozen bays with wide beaches, rugged hills and a headland backed by lush tropical vegetation.
The party island with upscale dining options, great beaches and lots happening. The largest and most popular of the Gili Islands.
There are no cars allowed anywhere on the island and local planning rules have prevented the building of multi-storey properties higher than the tree line.
Gili Trawangan is a fantastic dive location and also has great snorkelling straight from the shore.
The smallest and quietest of the Gili Islands. This is a perfect spot to get away from it all. Very popular as a romantic getaway for honeymooners. Casual dining options abound with plenty of choices for BBQ fresh seafood served up by the beach. The island is less than two miles long and you can walk around the entire coast in two hours. The stunning white beaches and relaxed atmosphere make this a favourite location for couples.
Be dazzled by the underwater life in the pristine waters around the Gili islands. Take the opportunity to go swimming with turtles, rays and sharks for the ultimate aquatic experience. The east coast of Gili Meno and Gili Air offers some of the best diving in Indonesia. You can also get a boat out to some truly special dive sites nearby.
In the south of Lombok is the famous surf spot of Kuta. There are miles of largely untouched beaches and some incredible breakers. One for the experienced surfer, or just to go and watch if you don't want to catch a wave yourself. West of Kuta, there are several spectacular beaches to explore. Closest is the lovely Are Goleng, followed by Mawum with calm waters great for swimming. Mawi is recommended for surfing and, further along, Selong Blanak is a great place for novices to learn to surf in the safe waters.
Rinjani is the second highest volcano in all of Indonesia. It is a strenuous climb, but you will be rewarded with a view that makes it all worthwhile. Segara Anak lake at the top of the mountain is a stunning sight. The shortest trek to the rim of the crater will take two days and three days are required if you descend the crater to the lake. Stop off at Air Kalak Hot Springs, just 200 metres from the main campsite. The waters are supposed to have medicinal properties due to the high mineral content At the base of the volcano, the national park has several beautiful waterfalls.
If two days climbing a volcano is too much, then Bukit Pergasingan is an easier option that also provides stunning scenery. The hill sits 1,700 metres above sea level in the village of Simbalun. You can look out across the rice fields in one of the most scenic spots in all of Indonesia.
There are numerous picturesque waterfalls across Lombok. One of the most famous, and rightly so, is Tiu Kelep Waterfall in the north of the island, deep in the jungle. Found by Senaru Village, hiking to the waterfall will take around 45 minutes to an hour. As you approach the 45 metre falls, you'll hear the roar of water first and then feel the cool mist spraying from the waterfall. There's a beautiful pool at the base of the fall where you can take a dip and cool off in the crystal clear water after your walk.
This island is famous for its nightlife. It was a big backpacker destination in the 1990s but has since gone dramatically upscale, although the upbeat party vibe still remains. Sama Sama is a hip lively spot that attracts a cool crowd.
We've already said there are three Gili Islands, but west of those is another island, sometimes referred to as the 'Secret Gili'. Gili Layar, as it is also known, is a real off the grid low key location, even more so than little Gili Meno. Locals say the snorkelling is among the best in Lombok, so if you love to be in an underwater world, then Gili Layar should be on your list.
You'll cycle beside power white sand beaches, tropical palm groves and lush rice paddies that stretch along the western coast of Lombok. Take time to stop at some of the traditional villages you pass by on your route and see how the locals live.
It is just a short boat ride from Lombok to the Komodo National park where you can trek to see the famed Komodo Dragon in its natural environment.
On the south coast of Lombok, this is one of the best and prettiest beaches on the island. Pristine golden sand stretches around a wide expanse of bay. Hire a surfboard if you are feeling active or just relax on the beach. There are also a number of local food stalls selling fresh coconuts and delicious but simple rice and noodle dishes.
Surrounded by lush gardens the park mirrors the shape of the famous Mount Rinjai volcano.
Built in 1727 at the behest of King Anak Agung Gede Ngurah Karang Asem, the park is a sacred spiritual retreat for Hindus.
The natural springs and impressive architecture make this well worth a visit.
Much less well known than the Gili Islands but equally as spectacular are the Sekotong Islands. You'll feel miles away from the crowds of Bali. You can visit on a quick day trip from Lombok. The snorkelling direct from the white sand beaches is excellent.
A distinct change of pace from the beach vibes that pervade most of Lombok, Tebebatu Village is often compared to Ubud in neighbouring Bali.
Set among the same type of green rice fields that stretch almost as far as the eye can see, it is a great spot to learn more about the local culture of Lombok and its people, the Sasak.
Almost make sure you pick up some souvenirs and gifts from the traditional handicraft markets.
Take a trip to Beleg Village to learn about the Sasak traditions and culture. The village itself is believed to date back to the 14th century.
You'll see traditional houses and gazebos known as Berugak as the village has hardly changed this century.
It has been preserved to educate visitors about the traditional Sasak way of life and is a unique opportunity to get a glimpse back into a past that is disappearing fast.
Lombok is famous for its cultivated pearls.
Autore Pearl Farm offers a tour for visitors to learn about the process as well as pick up beautiful pearl gifts and products.
