Frequently Asked Questions
What is Larnaca best known for?
Honestly, the seafront. Those palm trees along Finikoudes are the shot everyone comes home with. Blue Flag beaches, a couple of good old churches, and it just… moves slowly. Nobody's rushing anywhere. It's a real city too, not a resort bubble, so you've got proper shops and cafes on your doorstep while the Cypriot side of things still hums away underneath. That mix is what pulls people back for a villa stay.
How far is Larnaca Airport from the villas?
Ten minutes. Sometimes thirty if your villa's further out. Either way you're not stuck on a coach for two hours after a dawn flight, which, frankly, counts for a lot. Easiest airport run on the island, I'd say.
Are there beachfront villas in Larnaca?
Yeah, a fair number. Look around Pervolia or Mackenzie Beach and you'll turn up villas more or less on top of the sand. Sea from the terrace, a pool to fall into, beach two minutes down the road. You could do a lot worse.
Is Larnaca suitable for a family villa holiday?
Families? Hard to beat, really. Beaches shelve gently so the little ones can splash without you hovering, the promenade's a doddle to stroll with a buggy, and there's enough going on that nobody's bored by day three. Villas usually sort the rest. A pool, a garden to run about in, a table outside for those long, slow dinners after the sun's gone.
What are the best beaches near Larnaca?
Finikoudes and Mackenzie buzz, right in the thick of town. Craving quiet instead? Pervolia and CTO Beach stretch out with a lot more room to breathe. Different vibe on each, so pick to suit the day.
Do I need a car when staying in Larnaca?
Not really, no. Handy if you're the type who wants to chase villages and hidden coves, sure. But most villas sit a short walk from tavernas, a mini-market, the everyday stuff. So the car just sits there. Most people don't move it till day four.
What are the top attractions in Larnaca?
Loads, for such a compact place. Saint Lazarus church in the old town. The Salt Lake, with the flamingos if your timing's right. Hala Sultan Tekke, the Kamares Aqueduct, and the little castle down by the front.
Can I visit Ayia Napa and Protaras from Larnaca?
No bother at all. Both are a straightforward drive up the coast, close enough to do on a whim. Breakfast at the villa, a day poking round Ayia Napa or Protaras, back before dinner. People do it all the time.
When is the best time to rent a villa in Larnaca?
There's sun kicking about most of the year, so you'd struggle to pick badly. Summer if you live for the beach. But spring and autumn are the sweet spot for me — warm enough to eat outside every night, and you can actually walk round a ruin without dying.
Are there villas in Larnaca with private pools?
Plenty of them, yeah. Your own pool, a terrace to flop on, big open living space for when everyone piles in. I suppose that's why folk keep coming back to them instead of going hotel.
