Best things to do in Protaras:

Best beaches: Protaras' beaches are stunning. You'll find miles of soft white sands, packed beaches, beach bars, waterfront restaurants and sparkling seas, warm from the Med. Here and there, you'll uncover pretty coves with quieter, smaller beaches, perfect for more intimate gatherings

Some of the best beaches in the area include Nissi Beach and Glyki Nero Beach. Both are favoured for their crystal clear waters and white sands, accompanied by plenty of bars, restaurants and beach facilities

Pantachou Beach and Konnos Beach

Pantachou Beach and Konnos Beach are also much-loved beaches that get full very quickly so you'll have to get there early to get a decent spot.

For quieter beaches, head to Sunrise Beach, Kalamies Beach or the smaller bays like Green Bay, which don't get so busy.

Alternatively, you can travel the short distance to Pernera where you'll find quieter beaches, like Pernera Beach which are particularly appealing for young families. The only trade off is that you won't have all the facilities that accompany the beaches in Protaras.

If you can, take the scenic route to Pernera via the Pernera Coastal Walk. This coastal path will take you from Pernera to Protaras and you'll find restaurants, rest points and Fig Tree Bay along the way.

Top Watersports

Top Watersports: With so many well-facilitated beaches to visit, you can expect a dizzying array of watersports to enjoy.

From scuba diving to jet skiing, parasailing, kite surfing, catamaran cruises, sightseeing tours, sunset cruises and just about every other watersport you can think of – you'll find it here.

Profitis Ilias Church

Profitis Ilias Church (also spelt Elias) is a very popular Protaras attraction. Hike the Profitas Elias – Konnos Nature Trail and climb 150 stairs to reach the pretty little Byzantine-style Greek Orthodox Church of Profitis Ilias.

Built on a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean, 100m above sea level, Profitis Ilias delivers unrivalled views across the bay.

You'll find many more elegant stone churches like this, across the region with walls and ceilings painstakingly painted with biblical images.

Cape Greko Walk

The Cape Greko Walk is another trail that takes you along the coast via the National park. You'll pass sea caves, historic churches, magnificent wildlife and unforgettable views of the coastline between Konnos beach and Glyki Nero Beach.

Not far from Konnos Beach are the Cyclops Caves. The Cyclops caves date back to Neolithic times and were said to have once been home to a family of shipwrecked cyclops.

The Love Bridge is an Insta-ready natural wonder. Its magnificent white stone archway is formed from the slow erosion of sea water slapping at its face, creating a dazzling, natural delight by the water's edge – perfect for those holiday snaps to treasure.

Young families will relish the cosy size of Anastasia Aquamarina Waterpark. Its seven water slides, lazy river, pools and play area are perfect for keeping little ones both entertained and safe.

Ocean Aquarium

For animal lovers, the Ocean Aquarium delivers hours of fascinating sights. With over 1000 animals to see and tropical gardens to wander, the Ocean Aquarium's piranhas, penguins and crocodiles are sure to be a hit.
