Best things to do in Ayia Napa

Top watersports: The Famagusta region in which Ayia Napa resides is stunning. Ayia Napa's clear Mediterranean waters and soft sandy beaches make it the perfect backdrop for watersports of every kind.

Beaches here are busy and well-maintained. You'll find watersports are easily available on most beaches and from the harbour. Everything from jet skiing to paragliding, wind surfing, kayaking, banana boat rides, fishing, boat cruises and sea safaris are available for you to enjoy

Scuba diving and snorkelling are really popular activities for holidaymakers. Whether you are diving off the coast, during a boat trip or whilst visiting a cave, you'll find lots of interesting marine life and fossils underneath the waves.

Best beaches

Ayia Napa has an impressive collection of blue flag beaches. These beautiful, sandy beaches are well-maintained with excellent facilities, including: beach bars, showers, sun loungers, eateries and more.

Nissi Beach is the best beach in Famagusta and one of Cyprus' top beaches. Holidaymakers flock to Nissi beach for its crystal-clear waters and 500m of soft, white sand accompanied by a great selection of bars, watersports and restaurants.

Landa Beach is a short walk on from Nissi Beach, whilst Makronissos Beach is the furthest away so often has the least crowds.

One of Ayia Napa's most famous attractions is the medieval Monastery of Ayia Napa. At over 500 years old, this historic structure sits in the middle of Ayia Napa, fronted by a 600 year-old sycamore tree and a pretty park

For a more immersive experience in nature, head to the Troodos Mountains. The Troodos Mountains are home to Troodos National Forest, an incredible area of natural beauty, covered in 750 types of plants and rare wildlife.

A jeep safari will take you on an exciting journey from Ayia Napa into the mountains, with plenty of stops at vineyards, restaurants and scenic spots along the way.

When is the best time to visit Cyprus?

It is possible to visit Cyprus almost all the way through the year and still enjoy warm weather. November and March both enjoy temperatures in the twenties. The hottest weather lasts from June to September and remains in the thirties throughout the four-month period.

March sees the start of the hot weather with temperatures ranging between the twenties and thirties. In October and November it is still warm, with temperatures in October often as high as 27°C. By November, you can expect temperatures to drop down to around 22°C.

December to February is winter in Cyprus. However, in this beautiful, sunny isle, winter means temperatures of around 18°C. Be warned though, that this is the rainy season so you may still see some sun but it will be accompanied by a lot of rain.
