This beautiful slice of the east coast is a quieter, laid-back, pretty harbour town, where families and couples can relax and dip into the sights and sounds of Ayia Napa or Protoras whenever they choose.
Yet you may well find, you don't want to take any day trips elsewhere because there is so much to do and see in Pernera.
From its popular water park to top restaurants, attractions, watersports, beaches and bars there is plenty to keep all members of the family entertained.
For places to stay, there are lots of gorgeous luxury private villas with pools in Pernera as well as a number of hotels. This charming town is well-maintained, with plenty of transport available via buses, taxis, rental bikes and hire cars.
The Cyprus bus network is comprehensive so you can easily travel all over the island by bus if you choose.
In the centre of town, you'll find Pernera's main street with shops, restaurants and bars leading down to the coast. At the bottom, you'll be met with: beaches, watersports, boat trips, hidden coves and waterside eateries.
When you want a little more hustle and bustle, a 20 minute walk along Pernera's scenic coastal path or a 5 minute car ride, will find you amongst the crowds of Protaras, with Ayia Napa just a little further away.
It's no surprise that Pernera is the holiday destination of choice for Cypriot families. It is an ideal coastal haven in Cyprus away from the crowds – exactly what you want for some quality rest and relaxation.
You'll find a huge number of things to do and see, in and around Pernera. Here's our round up of the top attractions, restaurants, bars, nightclubs and beaches in Pernera
Top watersports: Positioned on the waters of the Mediterranean, you'll enjoy beautiful beaches and coves that are well-kept and not too busy. Watersports are big here, with everything from jet skiing to paragliding, kayaking, diving, parasailing and more.
As Pernera is a harbour town, boat trips are on offer in all shapes and sizes, from fishing trips to cruises through the seas, power boats for hire, glass-bottomed boat rides, boats for wedding celebrations and lots more.
There are plenty of other ways to drink in the glorious sea views, including the Golden Coast Beach's much-loved, serene beach cafe by the water's edge.
Alternatively, take a walk along the Pernera Coastal Path to Protaras then on to Paralimni if you choose. This scenic walk is dotted with restaurants and places to rest along the way. You can even stop off at Fig Tree Bay enroute.
For beaches, the Golden Coast and Pernera Beach are the best beaches in the area. Pernera Beach is favoured for its shallow waters and dreamy fine sand which make it ideal for families.
If you want something more intimate, Lauma Beach is a charming spot with a small beach and delightful views of medieval Agios Nikolaos Church in the hills – a popular choice for destination weddings. Kalamies Beach is another favourite with divine, super soft white sand.
The Troodos Mountains are a famous local attraction covered in thick ancient forests. Teeming with 750 types of plants, rare wildlife, picnic areas, tiny hotels, traditional villages, ancient churches and trails for hiking or skiing, the Troodos National Forest is a magnificent natural wonder.
For families, the Anastasia Aquamarina Waterpark has seven water slides, a lazy river, pools and a play area. Its moderate size makes it perfect for families with younger children.
The Ocean Aquarium is another family favourite with tropical gardens and over 1000 different types of animals from the world's seas and rivers, including: piranhas, penguins, turtles and crocodiles.
Historical local highlights include charming stone churches, such as the Profitas Ilias, most feature pretty stone architecture and walls painted with religious imagery.

Pernera has a great choice of top restaurants for dining out, as well as plenty of supermarkets and shops. Restaurant options cover all cuisines from traditional Cypriot foods to to fast food, Italian, Mexican, Chinese, kebabs and other international dishes.
There are plenty of bars and pubs to enjoy at night. Most include different entertainment and acts as well as free WiFi and the odd karaoke night.
The Ranch Bar is always a good place to get started. This is all good adult fun rather than the nightclub extravaganza you'll find in Ayia Napa although Ayia Napa is close by for those that want to go clubbing.
Pernera is ideally positioned in the popular holiday region of Famagusta, close to some of Cyprus' best holiday resorts on the island's eastern flank.
Protaras, Ayia Napa, Limassol and Paralimni are all close by, with each offering travellers something different.

One of the many reasons why Cyprus is a top holiday destination is its year-long sun and warmth. If you want to visit Cyprus outside of the summer months, you'll find temperatures in October, November, March and April are still warm.
In general, March to May delivers warm temperatures in the twenties and thirties. June to September see the highest temperatures in the low to mid thirties. You can expect the heat to continue on into October with temperatures reaching as high as 27°C.
Temperatures drop a little in November to the low twenties and it is still warm.
Heading into winter, there are still many warm days in December, January and February, although December to January are the wet months and temperatures won't rise above around 17°C - 19°C.

In 2005, John Paul Donnelly, began his luxury villa journey. He spent three years building resorts and holiday apartments in Alanya, Turkey, along with his brother, Joe. The concept was to create the most luxurious villas on the Turkish coastline and provide clients, along with their family and friends, the opportunity to enjoy exclusive holidays together.
By 2008, after the successful development of 3 resorts, JP had well and truly fallen into the world of villa rentals. With a portfolio of 6 villas and a desire to explore new places, he decided it was time to take the villa rental business outside of Turkey. He wanted to give his clients access to beautiful holiday rentals in destinations across the globe.
The expanding villa rental company was rebranded in 2011 to 5 Star Villa Holidays, and today 5 Star Villa Holidays offers over 4,000 luxury villas around the world.
